William Belcher, associate professor of anthropology in the School of Global Integrative Studies, is leading a group of undergraduate and graduate students to Germany for a forensic archaeological field school. They will assist the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DODPAA) in excavating the crash site of a World War II era bomber for an MIA U.S. service member.

This experiential learning opportunity teaches forensic archaeological field techniques at a real-life setting while earning credits for ANTH 497. The team resides in Münster, a 10-minute drive from the site, and will go on weekly excursions to World War II-related sites and museums, in addition to the excavation work. The field school runs through July 20.
