US and Allied aircraft were lost in and around Berlin, Germany in 1944 during the War, including one B-17G. A team of archaeologists, veterans, volunteers, and students from University of Nebraska-Lincoln is again working with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to excavate the crash site for the remains of the missing crewmembers. Bill Belcher, Associate Professor of Anthropology in the School of Global Integrative Studies, is leading the team, which previously assisted with a site in France.
