Dr. Glenn Humphress has been affiliated with the Geography program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on and off in a variety of contexts since 1991. He is a broadly-trained geographer and scientist with a background in physical geography, human geography, quantitative methods, and geographic information science (GISc), as well as anthropology and the biological sciences. Research experience has included human spatial demography, spatial population ecology and genetics, and electoral geography. Humphress’ teaching experience has primarily focused on geography and geographic information systems (GIS) courses, with additional experience in anthropology and biological science courses.
Research and Current Projects
Humphress’ current focus is on geographic education including undertaking a redesign of the introductory human geography course around geographic themes instead of social science themes to emphasize the importance of geography to students. He is continually seeking out ways of incorporating engaged and experiential learning opportunities for students.
