I am a zooarchaeologist and archaeologist, specialist of the fossil Vertebrate from the Caribbean, Central and Latin America. I collaborate with different international programs of research on Antigua and Barbuda, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Colombia, Brazil, and the French Lesser Antilles. I have been in charge of 22 Collective Research Programs, 7 excavation fields, and 10 PhD students in the Lesser Antilles. I am Curator of a Caribbean osteological comparative collection (957 specimens, 155 families, 895 taxa). My current research examines the archaeo-ethno-zoology of the pre-Columbian Caribbean islands (hunting, fishing techniques, feeding, cuisine, taming, domestication practices, and cultural choices). The identification of archaeofauna includes mammals, birds, chelonians, squamata, amphibians, fish, molluscs, crustaceans and echinoderms. The archaeological database includes 1.231.221 vertebrate remains, 26 islands or countries, 160 sites, 434 taxa. I also focus on the insular historic biogeography of the Lesser Antilles and its human impacts: late Pleistocene and Holocene species replacements, prehistoric and historic introductions, extinctions, and translocations. I am a professor-researcher at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris), department Man and Environnement.
