The School of Global Integrative Studies has scholarships and awards for undergraduate and graduate students.

Applications for all awards are due February 15, March 31, and September 30.

Anthropology

Don Burgess Award in Anthropology

Awarded to support outstanding undergrad and grad student research or travel to present research. 3.75 GPA required

Robert N. Reece Anthropology Fellowship Fund

Awarded to support graduate work conducting or presenting research in Cultural Anthropology and/or Conservation of Natural Resources. Applicant must be a full-time graduate student in good standing and at least a 3.0 GPA.

Douglas Bereuter Fellowship for Anthropology

Awarded for support of graduate master's thesis research in anthropology with a preference for Great Plains topics, but may be awarded to any area of anthropology. Applicant must be a full-time graduate student, in good standing with at least a 3.0 GPA, and an approved thesis proposal.

Awarded for excellence in anthropology to support student research.

Flavia Waters and John L. Champe Fellowship

Awarded in support of students conducting or presenting research dealing with Great Plains archaeology or ethnohistory. Applicant must be a graduate or undergraduate student in one of the three programs within the School of Global Integrative Studies: Anthropology, Geography, Global Studies. In good standing with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Thomas Edward McGinnis Award

Awarded for best undergraduate and graduate anthropology research paper presentation. Recipients are usually selected from presentations at the Nebraska Academy of Science meetings.

Ward Fredrick Weakly Memorial Fellowship

Award to support research or the presentation of research to undergraduate or graduate anthropology students with an emphasis on archaeology. Applicant must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in good standing and at least a 3.0 GPA

Geography

Flavia Waters and John L. Champe Fellowship
  • Awarded in support of students conducting or presenting research dealing with Great Plains archaeology or ethnohistory. Applicant must be a graduate or undergraduate student in one of the three programs within the School of Global Integrative Studies: Anthropology, Geography, Global Studies. In good standing with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Leslie Hughes Award in Geography
  • Awarded to support presentation of geography research. Applicant must show notification of acceptance to present at a conference to receive funds; those who have not yet received acceptance are still invited to apply, and can submit notification of acceptance after the application is submitted.
  • Awardees must be graduate students in good standing with at least 3.0 GPA.
