Favorite book and why?
“The Inheritance Games” because the whole book is like one big puzzle and it’s full of different twists and surprises that makes it really thrilling.

Favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is “On the Basis of Sex” because it follows the story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg a woman that paved the way for women in the legal field and someone that I admire very much.

Why Global Studies?
I chose to major in Global Studies because I wanted to have a better understanding of the world that I am living in and the people that are inhabiting it at the same time as me. I am also hoping one day to become a lawyer and feel that to best be able to defend people I must first be able to understand where they are coming from. French was something that I fell in love with in high school and when thinking about my college experience and life post-graduate I felt it would be a useful tool to have and I have really loved being able to communicate with others in their native language. Lastly, as for dance, I have grown up my whole life dancing and have always felt it kept me grounded as a constant in my life. In college it has allowed me to feel more grounded in all the change and also to utilize the other half of my brain!

Most interesting classes:
Some of the most interesting classes that I have taken thus far have probably been “Immigration and Politics” with Sergio Walls, because it relied on real accounts and stories of immigration to relay what the immigration system is like in the United States, and, a course I am currently taking with Julia Reilly, it is a Special Topics class called “The Rights of a Child” and it is a human rights class with a focus of children’s rights and is very interactive! As for why someone should choose to be a Global Studies major, I have found it to be a multi-disciplined major that encompasses a wide variety of topics and interests which has allowed me to become a more involved citizen and to educate myself on the other parts of the world outside of the United States that I might not have been as familiar with before! Being a Global Studies major has allowed me to look at the world from a wider lens and has helped me to appreciate the unique things that make up the different cultures all around the world.

Extracurricular Experiences:
Study abroad was probably the best decision that I have made within my time here at UNL and one of the best I’ve made in my life! I studied abroad in Grenoble, France for 5 months and took classes exclusively in French! Doing so allowed me to really immerse myself in the language and the culture and helped me to grow not only in my language learning skills but also in my knowledge of European culture! I was also lucky enough to get to stay with a host family while I was there which taught me even more about the French culture and lifestyle and helped me to feel comfortable and safe in a new place. Aside from my time abroad I have been involved with a couple different things over my time here at UNL one of which was very impactful to me and that was my role as a Team Leader for Dance Marathon! Dance Marathon partners with the Omaha Children’s Hospital and works to raise money for the children through small events and fundraisers throughout the school year. As a team leader, I got to help head-up a group within my sorority to fundraise and then had the opportunity to sponsor one of the Children’s Hospital kids at the big 13 hour “Huskerthon” at the end of the year! It was truly a memorable experience and one I recommend to anyone looking to give back and get involved!

Post-Graduation Plans:
As of right now I am looking to do an internship or temporary work abroad program for a year before I head into law school! I would like to work in the international sphere of law and my dream job would be to work in some part of the United Nations. Specifically in a job that would allow me to utilize the knowledge I’ve gained with my French major and my Global Studies major!
