Favorite Book
My favorite book has to be The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. The series drew me in with the time traveling trope with a twist. I loved how, Claire, a progressive woman in the 1940's goes back to the 1740's and becomes an even stronger female. She takes her skills and uses them to survive and thrive in a new time and place. Her character mixed with the setting of the Scottish highlands made the series one of my favorites.

My Favorite Movie
(aka the best movie ever made) is The Princess Bride. I love all the movie finds a way to fit almost any genre. From monster rats to delicate romance there is something for everyone. The rodents of unusual size are just a bonus.

Why Global Studies?
I chose Global Studies because I believe that it is a great way to create a degree that fits you. I loved the ability to pick a region of the world and topics of interest. I think it’s great that we can then take those interests and study them in depth. Global Studies is a great program that customizes to you, and I know that with a Global Studies major I have a degree that was built with my future in mind.

In my first year at UNL I chose to add a Russian major to my Global Studies major. My Russian 101 class turned out to be one of my favorite classes. It allowed me to connect with new students. The small size and teaching style allowed me to get to know almost everyone. I feel that Russian 101 added both to my major and my experience at UNL.

I would recommend that new Global Studies students get to know the people they meet in class. Chances are you will see them again, and your classmates can easily become good friends and study partners.

Education Abroad
I plan to study abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia next Fall with SRAS. I’m really excited to experience Russian culture and language first hand.

Post-Graduation Plans
After graduation I hope to continue onto grad school. I think it would be wonderful to get my masters in Europe. My ideal career would be working as a professor. I enjoy learning and teaching and can easily see myself loving working at a university.
